Daycare Oncology describes the administration of cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, and immunotherapy, within a setting that caters for patient admission and discharge on the same day. Conditions Treated
Daycare oncology services are appropriate for most adult and elderly patients with either solid tumors or blood malignancies. Included among the treatments administered are adjuvant and neoadjuvant chemotherapy, palliative chemotherapy, maintenance therapy, and monoclonal antibody infusions. Supportive care, including antiemetics, hydration therapy, blood transfusions, and bisphosphonate infusions for bone involvement, is also given. Pediatric patients are considered on an individual basis for daycare suitability. All treatment regimens are protocol-driven and evidence-based, tailored to tumor type and stage.
