Experience Required: 12-18 years (with at least 5 years in a supervisory/leadership role in nursing management)

Role Overview:

The Nursing Superintendent will oversee the entire nursing services of the hospital, ensuring high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient staff management. The role is critical in maintaining clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, and staff discipline while aligning with hospital policies, digital healthcare innovations, and accreditation standards (NABH/JCI).

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Care & Quality
    • Ensure delivery of safe, ethical, and high-quality nursing care to all patients.
    • Monitor adherence to clinical protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety guidelines.
    • Coordinate with doctors and allied teams to ensure seamless patient care.
    • Implement and monitor nursing audits, clinical quality indicators, and NABH/JCI standards.
  2. Leadership & Staff Management
    • Supervise, mentor, and lead all nursing staff, including Assistant Nursing Superintendents, Nurse In-Charges, and staff nurses.
    • Prepare monthly duty rosters ensuring adequate nurse-patient ratios across all clinical areas.
    • Handle staff grievances, maintain discipline, and ensure adherence to uniform and professional standards.
    • Plan induction, training, and continuous upskilling of nursing staff, including use of digital/AI-enabled healthcare tools.
  3. Administration & Operations
    • Oversee nursing manpower planning, recruitment, retention, and performance evaluation.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of nursing resources, consumables, and equipment.
    • Monitor compliance with HR policies, leave management, and attendance (in collaboration with HR).
    • Supervise documentation, record maintenance, and budgeting for nursing services.
  4. Compliance & Accreditation
    • Ensure strict adherence to Nursing Council norms, Biomedical Waste Management, Fire Safety, and Hospital Accreditation Standards.
    • Drive clinical audit, compliance process, documentation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
    • Participate in accreditation audits and mock drills.
  5. Technology & Innovation
    • Leverage AI-driven tools for:
    • Roster management and predictive staffing models.
    • Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) to assist in patient monitoring.
    • Digital documentation, HIS/EMR, KEKA HRMS portals for accuracy and efficiency.
    • AI-based learning platforms for nurse training and continuous education.
    • Analytics dashboards for infection control, incident reporting, and patient safety tracking.
    • Stay updated on healthcare technology advancements and ensure nursing staff are trained on their effective usage.
  6. Communication & Coordination
    • Act as the link between hospital management and nursing staff.
    • Participate in management meetings, patient safety committees, and quality assurance activities.
    • Handle escalated patient complaints related to nursing services in a professional manner.
Skills & Qualifications:
    • B.Sc./M.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory); Postgraduate qualification in Hospital/Healthcare Management (preferred).
    • Registered with the State Nursing Council.
    • Proven leadership skills with strong administrative and organizational abilities.
    • Familiarity with AI-powered hospital tools, EMR/HIS systems, and HRMS platforms.
    • Excellent communication, decision-making, and crisis-handling skills.
